It has been a busy month of learning and celebrating at the Creek for both students and staff! Our teachers participated in i-Ready training, learning how to use reports and data more effectively to guide instruction and meet the individual needs of our students. Staff also had the opportunity to attend an optional after-school professional development session focused on exploring the capabilities of their MacBook Neo. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue growing as educators and strengthening our instructional practices. Additionally, we appreciated the time Dr. Blanton and Dr. Mattison spent working with our team through the Root Cause Analysis process as we prepare for our upcoming fall data chats.
We were excited to welcome students and families into our building for our combined Open House and Instructional Night! Parents had the opportunity to experience a glimpse of their child's day in the classroom while participating in engaging reading and math activities provided by our instructional coaches. Families also received practical tips and resources to support learning at home. We were pleased to welcome representatives from the Boiling Springs Public Library, a local author, and the Upstate Family Resource Center, who shared valuable resources and services available to our families.
We always enjoy welcoming future educators into our classrooms, and this month, BSHS Teacher Cadets spent time reading with our students. These experiences provide meaningful opportunities for our students while allowing aspiring teachers to build connections and gain valuable classroom experience.
Learning extends beyond our classrooms, and several exciting activities helped bring learning to life this month! Our students enjoyed field trips that complemented classroom instruction, and our annual Walk to School event brought grade-level students together for a one-mile walk filled with fun and fellowship. We also welcomed the Boiling Springs Fire Department, whose team shared important fire safety lessons with our 4K through first-grade students. We are thankful for their continued partnership and commitment to keeping our youngest Blue Jays safe during Fire Safety Week.
Our Hope Squad is officially up and running, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact these students will have on our school community throughout the year. We also celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a special visit from the El Burrito food truck, giving our school community another opportunity to celebrate culture and come together.
At the Creek, we love celebrating the people who make our school special! We recognized our September Terrific Kids, honoring students who serve as positive role models both inside and outside the classroom. We are proud of the many ways our Blue Jays demonstrate character, leadership, and kindness each day.
We also celebrated two outstanding members of our staff. Ms. Gallegos, one of our first-grade teachers, was recognized as our Certified Staff Member of the Month, and Ms. Sierra, an assistant in one of our special education classrooms, was named our Classified Staff Member of the Month. Both make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students every day, and we are grateful for their dedication and commitment to our school. We also took time to recognize and thank our custodial team for their hard work and dedication in keeping our school clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
It is always a great month at Shoally Creek when we can celebrate learning, strengthen partnerships with our families and community, and recognize the incredible students and staff who make our school such a special place. We are proud of our Blue Jays and look forward to all the learning and growth still to come!
